EMC design reviews — we find and prevent issues so they don’t find you later.
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Design Reviews
Here at E3, we are proactive and work to prevent electromagnetic compatibility issues. Doing an EMC design review is one of the best ways to catch problems before spending money to build and test hardware. We start by understanding your design and your EMC requirements. Then we identify risk areas to passing EMC and make design recommendations.
ENGAGE US TO REVIEW YOUR EMC DESIGN TODAY→
We perform reviews on the first design or at any point in product development where there is a benefit to prevent or resolve EMC issues. We encourage our customers to implement design recommendations in the early stages of development for optimized performance. During our reviews we focus on the following areas:
EMC Design Reviews:
· Product system architecture
· Cable management and connectors
· Grounding & shielding strategy
· Mechanical enclosure design
· Schematic design and choice of components
· Printed Circuit Board design
· Software (driver settings, delays, pre-emphasis, ODT, filtering algorithms)
EMC Design Review Success Story
We had the opportunity to review the schematic and layout designs for a consumer electronic product. The product was equipped with WiFi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, USB and an LVDS display. These technologies all had the potential to pose issues in meeting RF emissions requirements set by the FCC and found in CE-Mark. However, during our review we identified several risk areas and recommended design improvements which were implemented prior to design release and assembly. The product was then prototyped and tested through our pre-compliance test process which confirmed the potential emissions issues had been successfully mitigated with sufficient margin. Our customer felt relieved that they could face significant EMC challenges involving those technologies and still generate a winning design in one iteration.
